Cordoba Custom Artist Classical Guitar

SP/IN (also offered in cedar)

Retail $3000, Typical $2219.  Call for a lower price.

The Custom Artist series represents Cordoba's latest and most advanced designs.  The quality of sound and construction is far beyond the previous generation Cordobas

Overall, it has the refinement and beauty of sound of a concert guitar, without  unusually high volume levels that are unnecessary for a non-professional player.

The Custom Artist classical guitar is patterned after the designs of legendary luthier Miguel Rodriguez.   The body of the guitar is deeper than normal, creating more resonating volume, and the 5-fan bracing system with treble enhancer produces tone in the melody strings that is remarkably complex and endlessly interesting.

In addition, the guitar is remarkably even in sound up the entire fingerboard.

Finally, the guitar has the elegant appearance of a high-line instrument built by an elite luthier.

This guitar has a stunning appearance--a golden top, delicately sculptured tuner plates with two-tone coloration, and beautiful patterns for the rosette, top binding and tie block decoration.  Photographs do not do justice to this instrument's breathtaking visual aesthetics.  (Some spruce models have a whitish-blond top.)

The sound is even more impressive.  Trebles are sweet, pure, and possess a seemingly infinite range of understated, complex colors.  The basses are bold, yet balanced with the trebles.  Sustain and projection are unusually good considering the price, and it speaks with a compelling voice to the listener.

Moreover, it is effortlessly musical and transparent to the player's emotions, things that typical classical guitars--even expensive ones--don't do very well.

Overall, the guitar is truly poetic and inspiring to the player.  I do not recall playing a more expressive guitar throughout my entire 40-year career.

The first customer who bought a Custom Artist made the purchase decision in a matter of minutes.

Considering all the instruments I've heard over the years, I estimate a price of around $4000 to obtain a guitar with the beauty of sound, appearance and power of the Custom Artist.
