Classical Guitar Return Guidelines and Policies
Note that we have never had an Internet return.
1. Sales to purchasers outside the continental United States are final, with no possibility of return.
These purchasers are responsible for brokerage/customs fees and any other costs associated with shipping products outside the continental United States.
2. Required signature of shipment receiver; timeframe of return (approval period).
Every guitar we ship requires a signature from the person receiving it. Once you receive a shipping notice from us, follow the tracking number on the Internet in case there is a delay. If there is not someone at your residence at the date at the time of delivery, you will have to make arrangements with the shipping company to obtain the guitar.
You have 72 hours (3 days) to evaluate a guitar we ship to you. In certain cases, we may agree to a longer time frame in writing. If the guitar is not returned as agreed, you own it.
3. Wait at least 24 hours before calling to discuss a return.
In most cases, it takes this long for the guitar to adjust to normal temperature and humidity. Before this point, the sound of the guitar will often be unsatisfactory. In extreme cases, there will be temporary buzzing or other action problems.
To rectify the situation, the guitar should be kept in a room at 72 degrees, with a humidity level of 40-50 percent, and away from direct sunlight and heating/air-conditioning outlets or devices.
To establish proper humidity in dry climates or during the heating season, run a cool-mist room humidifier at least 6 feet away from the guitar. The humidifier should have a gauge or some way of regulating the moisture output. If there is no gauge, use a medium moisture output setting.
3. Humicase humidifiers or Dampits should NOT be used during the approval period.
If your guitar has a Humicase, DO NOT activate the built-in humidifiers. Make sure the Humicase humidifiers and activation solution stay unopened in their factory wrapping. If they are removed from their wrapping or used, your refund will be reduced by the replacement cost of these items.
4. Guitar condition requirements for return.
The guitar and case must be returned in the exact condition it was shipped. since we do not sell used guitars, this means mint condition.
If you alter the guitar/case in any way, you own the affected item and there is no return option. In particular, do not alter the nut, saddle, frets, or tuning machines.
If you damage the guitar/case, you own the affected item and there is no return option.
Some customers ask why they can't have the guitar fixed. To us, a repaired guitar is a used guitar, and we are not allowed to offer warranties on such instruments. Also, repaired guitars may be worth less at retail than our wholesale cost.
6. Notification of return required before shipping guitar back.
Notify us via phone at
Request that we sign for the package.
Otherwise, it may be left outside to be damaged by the elements or stolen. if this occurs, you must pursue an insurance claim for financial compensation, not us.
7. Damage in shipping.
When you receive a guitar from us, inspect it in the presence of the delivery person. If the guitar is damaged, refuse to accept it.
If the insurance company claims that you are at fault
for the damage, e.g. the delivery person did not witness the damage, you will
NOT receive a refund.
Otherwise, you will receive a refund once Classical Guitars, Etc. receives compensation from the insurance company. If the insurance company refuses to pay the claim despite being clearly at fault, and exonerates you from responsibility for the damage, you will receive a refund once notification of this refusal is provided to us.
8. Purchaser's return costs.
In the event of a return, the customer pays shipping both ways.
9. Return shipping insurance.
If the guitar is damaged during return shipping to us, you own the instrument. Therefore, insure the guitar for the full purchase price.
